About the School

This school of choice is situated on 2.74 acres with a large playing field and newly-built creative playground. We are actively creating a unique Naturalization Area to Calgary - a "Rain Garden" concept (see www. raingarden.ca). Construction and planting has begun on this multi-year school community project had its official opening on may 8, 2008. Alexander Ferguson school has 11 classrooms including a dynamic music program, as well as a learning center of library resources and computer stations, and a gymnasium. Thanks to a British Petroluem Energy Grant, the school is "transforming" the library with an Alberta energy focus, including a 360 degree mural. Renovations have been on-going with a new roof and windows and the front siding. Teachers offer a variety of lunch-hour clubs including intramurals, writing clubs, art clubs, dance clubs and both Division I and II Leadership Cores. We have a parent-run Before and After School Care Program and a Lunchroom Program. School organization for 2008 - 2009: a morning and an afternoon Kindergarten, three classes of Grade 1/2, three classes of Grade 3/4 and three classes of Grade 5/6 for a total of 222 students.
