About the School

Bowness High School is a school rich in history, memories, and achievements over the decades. Since its opening in 1956, Bowness has been a place of change and development. All of the feeder communities which provide students to Bowness, such as Silver Springs and Scenic Acres, began to take shape in the mid to late 1970's, during the oil boom of Calgary. Even newer communities such as Arbour Lake, Tuscany and Rocky Ridge have taken shape as recently as 1995. The Bowness Trojan Spirit Bowness has grown through the ages and remains strong today.
Bowness is a comprehensive high school in northwest Calgary with a faculty of 75 teachers, 19 support staff, 1 computer technician, 1 career practitioner and a student population of over 1400 students. Bowness offers a strong academic program, a variety of complementary learning experiences and a strong emphasis on technology.

Bowness is the BEST

Overall:
5

We have been thrilled with Bowness Highschool for our child these past three years. We made a choice to move our child to Bowness based on strong recommendations from teachers, principals and older siblings (that attended another highschool)...We were not dissappointed! They say it starts at the "top" and in this case it really does. The principal is amazing...very tuned in...knows every students by name...attends their sports and other special events with enthusiasm and praise for their accomplishments. He truly cares about each and every student...and it shows.
