The school is located in the southeast community of Chaparral.
About the School
Chaparral Elementary School opened in November 2006. It is a K-4 school with a population of 510 students. It has 20 classrooms and a teaching staff of 28.5 fulltime teachers. It has one full time music specialist, one full time physical education specialist and two information literacy teachers. The playground was built in 2007.

What have my kids been learning all year????

I never see any math or spelling/vocabulary homework.
Reading is not expected until grade 1.
Not an academic school.
However, they have a lot or clubs and music things going on.
They have a wonder PE instructor.
Would not recommend this school to anyone.
Sat, 04/17/2010 - 15:24 — AnonymousWe are very disappointed in Chaparral School. We have a child in Grade 1 and feel that the last two years (kindergarten and Grade 1) have been an absolute waste. In looking at our child's work books at sharing night there was no spelling, no printing, no math, no science, not much of anything but some creative writing. The school's (or mainly the principal's) philosophy of learning is that of an Inquiry based learning and so far it looks like to us as though it is an experiment that isn't working and our child is suffering the consequences.
