School Location

Fairview School, a middle school, is located in the southeast community of Fairview.

The school accommodates students in grades 5, 6, 7, 8 and 9 in many different programs: English, Late Immersion, Continuing Immersion, National Sport Academy – Hockey, Soccer and Lacrosse, Tsuu T’ina Aboriginal program, Access Class (Special Needs) and Grade 7 Tradtional Learning Centre. Grades 5 and 6 students are enrolled only in the Traditional Learning Centre. The communities that Fairview serves for the English Program are Fairview and Tsuu T’ina. The Traditional Learning Centre serves grade 5, 6, 7, 8 and 9 students living south of the Bow River.

The communities that Fairview serves in both the Late and Continuing French Immersion programs are: Acadia, Bridlewood, Lake Chaparral, Cranston, Copperfield, Deer Ridge, Douglas Glen, Douglasdale Estates, Fairview, Lake Bonavista, Maple Ridge, Mackenzie Lake, Mackenzie Town, Midnapore, New Brighton, Ogden, Parkland, Queensland, Queensland Downs, Riverbend, Sundance, Tsuu T’ina, and Willow Park. Students wishing to enroll in the National Sport Academy - Hockey, Soccer or Lacrosse need to make contact with the National Sports program at 777-3646 and qualify as an academic/athelete. Based on the community in which they live and the program they are enrolled in, students from Fairview are designated to five High Schools: Lord Beaverbrook, Central Memorial, Western Canada, Centennial, Henry Wise Wood and Dr. E.P. Scarlett.

About the School

The school was built in 1958 and openend in September 1960 and is situated on 8 acres in the community of Fairview. It is a multi-level building and has been renovated a couple of times to meet the changing needs of the school community. The school has 41 classrooms including dedicated areas for Science, Art, Music, Drama, Technology, Home Economics and Industrial Arts. In addition, Fairview has a great library, two gymnasiums and a large cafeteria.
