Georges P. Vanier School, a bilingual school, is located in the northeast community of Winston Heights/Mount View. The school's English population is drawn from all or parts of the following communities: Evanston (including Creekside), Greenview, Highland Park, Kincora, Thorncliffe, Tuxedo Park, Winston Heights and Mountview. Students in the Immersion program are drawn from Beddington Heights, Bridgeland/Riverside, Capital Hill (East of 14th St), Cambrian Heights, Country Hills (North and South), Country Hills Village, Country Hills, Crescent Heights, Evanston (including Creekside), Greenview,Harvest Hills, Hidden Valley (including Hanson Ranch), Highland Park, Highwood, Hillhurst (East), Huntington Hills, Kincora, MacEwan Glen, Mount Pleasant, North Haven, Panorama Hills (including Hanson Ridge), Queen's Park Village, Renfrew, Rosedale, Rosemont, Sandstone Valley, Sunnyside, Thorncliffe, Tuxedo Park, and Winston Heights/Mount View. English elementary feeder schools include Buchanan, Cambrian Heights, Greenview and Mount View. French Immersion elementary feeder schools for the Continuing and Late French Immersion programs are Alex Munro, Beddington Heights, Buchanan, Cambrian Heights, Catherine N. Gunn, Colonel Macleod, Dr. J. K. Mulloy, Greenview, Highwood, Huntington Hills, King George, Langevin, Mount View, North Haven, Rosedale, Rosemont, Stanley Jones, Simons Valley, Sunnyside,and Thorncliffe. English students from Georges P. Vanier School move on to either Crescent Heights, J.G. Diefenbaker or James Fowler High School. French immersion students move on to William Aberhart High School.

About the School

Georges P. Vanier School was built in 1960 and remains in good condition for a 40-year-old facility. The school has the following spaces available for learning: 21 classrooms, drama room, industrial arts facility, library, 3 science labs, art room, home economics facility, gymnasium, cafeteria, 2 computer labs, band room, resource room, and fitness room. The school is situated on 11.6 acres with adequate space for all outdoor games and pursuits, including tennis. The school colours are blue and white. The school mascot is the lynx.
