School Location

Highwood School is a dual-track French Immersion / Traditional Learning Centre school (TLC-Temporary location) located in the northwest community of Highwood and serves the following various communities for French or TLC or both… Beddington Heights, Cambrian Heights, Country Hills (South), Evanston, Greenview, Highland Park, Highwood, Huntington Hills, Kincora, MacEwan, North Haven, Queen's Park Village, Sagehill, Sandstone Valley and Thorncliffe. Students move on to Georges P. Vanier Junior High School (French) and then on to William Aberhart High School. TLC students will be moving in two years time to a site yet to be determined. Their designated grade 5-8 school will be Balmoral and the designated High School is Crescent Heights.

# School hours are from 9:10 to 3:35. Recess is from 2:15 to 2:30 and lunch is from 11:50 to 12:40. Morning Kindergarten begins at 9:10 with dismissal at 11:48. Afternoon Kindergarten begins at 12:57 with dismissal at 3:35.

About the School

The school was built in 1965 and is situated on 1.8377 acres with a creative playground that was constructed in 2001. The school has 16 classrooms with a fully equipped bilingual library (media centre) with 25 Mac computers, 55 Mac computers throughout the school, 34 Windows computers (1 designated for each teacher), a well equipped gymnasium (with no stage), and a music room.
