
School Location
John Ware School is located in the southwest community of Pumphill. Our regular program students come to us from the communities of Pumphill, Braeside, Palliser and Bayview. Our elementary feeder schools are Braeside and Nellie McClung. Students from John Ware go to Henry Wise Wood High School.
In the 2008 - 2009 school year, we welcomed about 445 students to our school community: 198 students in the regular program and 247 students in the Gifted and Talented Education (GATE) program.
Our GATE program is in its nineth year and has grown to comprise twelve classes in 2008-2009: four each at each grade level.
About the School
The school was built in 1968 and is situated on 12.2 acres. The complementary program offers a range of experiences including, art, foods, fashion, exploration of film, construction, robotics, french, and outdoor education for all grade levels. Students have access to computer technology in areas designated for research, classroom instruction, and a multi-media centre. Additionally, John Ware has full wireless access and three mobile computer carts each with 10 laptops that can be used in any area of the school.
