About the School

The school was established to enable athletically-talented students to complete a high school education while continuing their athletic competition in international sports. It is a partnership between the Calgary Board of Education and C.O.D.A. (Calgary Olympic Development Association). Students enrolled in the school represent twenty-three different Olympic sports.

The members of the teaching staff at the Sport School are Calgary Board of Education employees who have applied to teach in this unique and exciting environment which offers opportunities for both innovation and flexibility. Each teacher is also a teacher-advisor, acting as an advocate for a small number of students, grouped by sport.

Technology is integrated into all courses at the Sport School. As well, students have the use of telecommunication technology through a bank of circulating laptops with dial-in and wireless access to our Internet account allowing them to maintain contact with the school while they are away training or competing.
