Wilma Hansen is located in the southeast community of Queensland Downs, serving the communities of Deer Ridge, Deer Run, Diamond Cove, Queensland Downs, Parkland and Bridlewood. The feeder schools are Deer Run, Haultain Memorial, Prince of Wales, Midnapore Elementary and Queensland Downs Elementary Schools. Students move from Wilma Hansen School to Lord Beaverbrook and Centennial High Schools.

The school was built in 1983 and is situated on 10.86 acres. The school has 20 classrooms, one gymnasium, two computer labs, industrial arts, band, art and home economics rooms.
